Untether AI and Co-Founder Raymond Chik Honored by Canadian Entrepreneurs Group for Startup of the Year

TORONTO, Canada – April 25, 2022 – Untether AI co-founder Raymond Chik was honored by the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) during a gala dinner hosted by the ACCE in Toronto on April 23, 2022. In 2018, Dr. Chik, Dr. Martin Snelgrove, and Darrick Wiebe founded Untether AI. This year the ACCE honored that founding and the progress Untether AI has made as the pioneers of at-memory computation for artificial intelligence (AI) inference acceleration by awarding him and the company Startup of the Year.

“Raymond embodies the very best qualities of an entrepreneur who thrives in not just Canada, but anywhere in the world’s technology ecosystem,” said Arun Iyengar, President and CEO of Untether AI. “His long history of founding and growing successful companies has bolstered Canada’s role as a key technology provider to the world. We are honored that the ACCE recognized him for co-founding Untether AI and awarded us Startup of the Year.”

The ACCE hosts the Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards in association with The Center of Entrepreneurship of Centennial College, PwC and Ming Pao Daily News. The awards promote entrepreneurship in the Chinese Canadian community, encourage new business start-ups and promote social responsibility in entrepreneurs, among other things. Nominations are from peers in the ACCE community, and the awards are determined by an independent panel of judges from Centennial College, KPMG, PwC, Ernst & Young, the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, and The Globe and Mail.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by the ACCE and the judges. Canada’s amazing community of technologists has afforded me a chance to pursue my passion for innovating new products and services and helping build companies that can invent the future and change lives,” Dr. Chik said.

Dr. Chik, born in Hong Kong, originally came to Toronto as a high school visa student. He received his MASc in electrical engineering, MASc in Electrical & Computer Engineering, and his Ph.D in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Chik has a distinguished history in developing established and startup semiconductor companies and founding startups. His work history includes Mosaid, Snowbush, InVisage Technologies, Issumatek Ltd, and Kapik Integration prior to co-founding Untether AI.
